    Educating the Cosmic Traveller

So an alien from Moorcock XII-7SP lands in a field near you....
    ...makes contact....
    ....he's a Rush fan.....
    ...wearing a Hawkwind T-shirt....
...that he picked up on his last "spaced out" visit...
...to a field somewhere near Glastonbury....
...and wants to learn more about popular earth music...man!

    Define popular as you will.

You have to play him music from the 1950s onwards, based on your favs, but only 3 albums per decade.
Take it away! Points subtracted for anyone who mentions UFO, The Foo Fighters, Flying Saucer Attack or Alien Sex Fiend

    1950s
    Hank Williams Sings
    Chuck Berry Is On Top
Gene Vincent Rocks And The Blue Caps Roll

    1960s
    Pink Floyd - Piper
The Kinks - Are the VGPS
    Neil Young - s/t

    1970s
Kate Bush - The Kick Inside
    Black Sabbath - Paranoid
    Lene Lovich - Stateless

    1980s
    Cardiacs - The Seaside
Iron Maiden - Piece of Mind
    Squeeze - Argybargy

    1990s
Cardiacs - Heaven Born & Ever Bright
Arena - Songs from the Lions Cage
Sleepy People - Paint a Ceiling on the Sky

    2000s
Stars in Battledress - Secrets & Signals
    Edguy - Mandrake
Morrissey - You Are The Quarry

    2010s
    Horisont - Time Warriors
    Deathstars - The Perfect Cult
    Karda Estra - New Worlds

I'd say if he's a Rush fan already, he's beyond redemption and therefore you're wasting your time.

Just a Name to indicate his laid back nature & his interest in Tellurian music, I could just as easily have wriiten Hendrix, Cream or Jefferson Airplane :-)

Well, Jefferson Airplane did as Have You Seen the Saucers... On the other hand, Elton John affirmed that he has in fact seen the saucers.

If he's spent several centuries travelling goodness knows how many light years to earth, then he probably doesn't want songs about space and aliens... but if he did, you have

    1950's:
Sheb Woolley - Purplr People Eater

    1960's:
The Rolling Stones - (forget how many) Light Years From Home

    1970's:
    Klaatu/The Carpenters - Calling occupants
Donovan - the Inter-Galactic Laxative (or maybe not... might be something he'd rather not think about)
E.L.O. - Out Of the Blue (for the album artwork as much as the music)
    David Bowie - Starman
Chris de Burgh - A Spaceman Came Travelling

Anything by Jefferson Starship or Starship

    Contemporary:
Midnight Juggernauts - Into the Galaxy

I'd just play him Cosmic Travelers -'Live! At The Spring Crater Celebration,...' and ask him if he was in the band.
