I blame Wynton, what was the question?

Actually, I've been wanting to ask you a question about Rush and the Emerald Isle. I recently did a search on Rush in Ireland, and according to what turned up, they have only played one show in Ireland in their entire history! I believe it was on their recent tour.

Also, I have an Irish friend over here that is into heavier music and metal, who says he really knows very little about Rush, since he was not exposed to them growing up.

So, apparently Rush is not very popular in Ireland? Do you find this to be true? If so, why do you think that may be?

Reading the review of the one Dublin show, it seemed like the reviewer implied that the band was almost "too perfect and precise" for the Irish fans, so perhaps the fans are much more into punk and rebellion then the Rush formula of supreme musicianship?

    1 - Magma
    2 - Fripp soundscapes
    3 - Red Elvises

On second thought, instead of Red Elvises, let's make that Alice Cooper.

    In no particular order:

Focus (if they are in-fact still together)
    Frank Marino
    Anekdoten

Hmmm. Bands I've never seen? That narrows it down, so I'll go with:

    Advent
    Anglagard
    Big Big Train

My right arm is way too valuable for any band/musician. In fact, my right pinky toe is as well.
Duncan's going to make a Horns Emoticon!!!

They were my #1 unseen favorite as well, until 2010 when I finally had the opportunity. I wish I hadn't seen it; it can't be unseen. Ian's voice was too far gone.

Similar experience with Deep Purple in 2006. Band was on fire but Ian G's voice just wasn't holding up. Not close to as bad as JT's Ian though. And I have seen a lot of YT vids from the Now What tour 2013/2014 where Ian G. sounds really quite good.

    My own list would be:

Magma (and they are in NYC sometime soon and there is no way I can go! )
Colosseum (too late as of last week )
Rush - this one might actually happen this summer

Q: Are Hawkwind still gigging? If they are, they replace Whitesnake in my #3 spot.

Interesting question NK , and funnily enough as if to add veracity to your theory, I first heard Rush when I was in London in the 80s. As a rule, progressive, jazz, fusion, avantgarde have never been popular in Ireland.

Maybe not my right arm, but I'd sacrifice the figurative equivalent in economic terms. I know I'm stretching the definition of "active" with that first one, but I don't care.

...is really the only one that comes to mind

    Well, possibly Focus.

David Gilmour is a good one. Hope that I can satisfy that one soon.
