    UK London gig

Sensational final goodbye from Eddie and the gang. Better than in 2012, with Virgil Donati absolutely tearing it up. Great to hear Forevet Til Sunday. Only t shirts on sale nothing else. Thanks for the memories.

I was there. A bit disappointed they didn't play "Danger Money" (or "Mental Medication")... Gig was a bit shorter than last time (they also did "Starless" in 2012), but as you rightly say, still a great performance. Everyone was in fine form. And Sonja Kristina was, again, in attendance...

    Here's the setlist- http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/uk/201...-23cb9033.html
Seems the same for all shows so far. Wonder if it stays the same when the other last U.K. plays in the states.

"I have nothing to do with Endless River. Phew! This is not rocket science people, get a grip." - Roger Waters, 2014

Great gig indeed. I was happy with the setlist - we didn't get 'Starless' (it should be in the KC set later this year so not a problem for me) and 'Danger Money' this time, but hearing the full 'In the Dead of Night' suite, plus 'Nevermore', 'Time to Kill' and 'Forever Until Sunday' more than made up for that in my opinion.

Really impressed with Jobson's playing again, though the whole band played great of course (though the way Jobson & Wetton seemed to almost completely ignore both Donati and Machacek for the entire show, and at the end when taking their bows felt a bit awkward).

Me too, next to Aymeric. Great performances from Wetton and Jobson. Machacek seemed perhaps a bit more comfortable than last time at the same venue? Disappointing that the set was so close to last time and I felt both Donati's and Jobson's solos overstayed their welcome, but overall great. For me, the encore was the highlight, when it all gelled the best, although it was "Thirty Years" I was humming all the way home.

Yes, they did - in Japan in late 2013 when Jobson did special shows - one covering his entire career, with both Sonja Kristina and John Wetton sitting in, and another with UK playing their entire repertoire, including "Mental Medication", "As Long As You Want Me Here", "Night After Night" and even "Waiting For You" !

I have heard a boot of one of the shows, and am looking forward to being able to get the DVD of the UK show, which I understand is so far only available in Japan as part of a (rather expensive) boxed set.

A song with overlapping vocal lines by a band with one singer was not really designed to be performed live. You can hear why: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJ3MEH-pRhw

This may indeed be the reason why they don't perform it - Wetton may have vetoed it - but they played it last time and, missing vocal parts notwithstanding, it was really good. The song is about half instrumental anyway.

Well, their entire repertoire *except* late period b-side "When will You Realise?" It was an ambitious show and I too am looking forward to the non-Japan release of these shows.

This song was actually never performed live by UK - the version that was released (as a single B-side for, I believe, "Night After Night" ?) was recorded during a soundcheck in Japan. Eddie refused to perform it live, and this (it has been said) was the trigger for the band's break-up.

They should perform it as the final song at their forthcoming final show, then Eddie could storm off stage at the end and say the band's breaking up again.

When will you Realize appeared on Wettons Caught in the Crossfire and was a real nod towards the Asia direction. I did actually prefer the UK version but for me is probably their weakest composition.

I kind of like it. I like how the lyric doesn't fit the music, so Wetton has to pronounce "realise" in an odd way to make it fix: "re-AH-lize"... or maybe that's not odd if you come from Derbyshire?

Ha ha that's exactly what I always think, the lyric doesn't quite fit, this happens a few times with John Wetton.

It happens with the word 'photograph' in Asia track. Summer can't last too long .
