WHOA! If this is real, it's both overkill and autobuy!
Very cool. I guess this will sort of qualify as a Yessongs reissue if those concerts are included. I'd prefer not to have the Rainbow show since that's what the film represents, but as one of seven I can deal.
And I'm having a hard time remembering the Forgotten Yesterdays web site, but was Yes always the headliner on that tour? I'm wondering if some shows will be longer than others, or more or less complete.
I'm holding out for the Wilson-mixed 5.1 super-duper walletbuster special anniversary extra adjectives edition.
How much did the band change up the setlist on any given night and how differently did they play the tunes?
I want to dynamite your mind with love tonight.

They also played Starship Trooper and Close to the Edge during that tour. Would be interesting to hear Alan's first show in the US (doubtful). Also would be cool if they had a good recording of the first Close to the Edge performance at Crystal Palace.
Anyway I would love to hear this and hope the recordings aren't over-produced.
Well, so far I'm pretty underwhelmed. Probably not so great recordings of songs we've heard a billion times with a drummer who barely even knew them yet on a tour that has been released on album already is not what I was getting all hopeful for.
The tapes that were found by a trucking company back in '98 were of seven shows from 1972; half and half from the Fragile and CTTE tour...
Hey, that makes it more interesting. I really do like both Bruford and White in different ways, and have always wanted to hear more shows of the caliber of the Yessongs album. I actually love the Yessongs album and don't mind the raw sound quality - prefer it to any other live albums they've done. I think it's actually potentially really interesting to hear Bruford near the end of his time in Yes, and White at the beginning of his. I just hope they don't suck the life out of the recordings.
That's piqued my interest substantially, too. Thanks for the info.

'Since the Yes Japan Instragram account has shown it, here's the scoop: It's a 14 cd box set! 'Progeny: 7 Shows from '72.' With 7 new Roger Dean paintings!, a series similar to 'Yessongs.' Including Toronto and Ottawa. 'Close to the Edge' tour. More to come.' Doug Curran (on Facebook)

Good to see both Yesfans.com and ProgressiveEars.com complaining about this release within the first 10 posts on the topic...
I don't what's included yet. Might be all CttE tour with White and not much variation from night to night, or it might cover early 1972 shows with Bruford and the end of the Fragile tour. Either way, this is huge... and the really exciting part is that this might just be the start of opening the archives.

"When Yes appeared on stage, it was like, the gods appearing from the heavens, deigning to play in front of the people."
At the most all I'd really need is one from each tour. It's not like they varied the set lists that much. But to hear Yes (hopefully properly mastered and mixed) when the band was shit hot and playing with fire might be worth the investment in the box.
I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down.'- Bob Newhart
I'd rather have seven different shows from '71-'80, i.e. a primo show ca. Fragile all the way through Drama.
