I know I live in the dark ages but I can't work up any interest in a download only. I'd like to support Allan but with no physical format it's difficult for me to get my head around it. Although, the Carvin is physical.

Doesn't look like it's download only... There is mention of booklets, at least 250 copies thereof... Not just downloadable PDFs... So I assume, physical CDs too ?
    I agree it's not clear !

I'm fine with having a higher quality source of the material.
if you receive a high quality source could you not burn a personal CD copy?
    problem solved.

If you want your name in the credits the following information is shown:

You’ll be part of the new album…literally! With your name appearing in a special “thank you” section of the album’s liner notes. PLUS a signed booklet. (24 pages full color booklet in a limited edition of 250 will be printed, and it will include all credits, description of each tune by Allan Holdsworth, liner notes by an established music journalist and testimony from all musicians that have played on the album “Tales from the Vault”, which will be ONLY released in HD DIGITAL format.)

As far as I know a burned CDR hasn't got the same quality as a fabric-manufactured CD. It also ages not so good.

This is very cool! I love Mr. Holdsworth's music, and am grateful for a chance to help fund any kind of new recording from him.

Some updates for the Pledgers give this usefull information:

As I finish each track(s) in the coming months, I will be releasing one or two each month over the next 6 months for download in high res formats. Towards the end of 2015 I hope to release ALL of the tracks from both unreleased albums in special cd and vinyl sets available only through Pledge. Each will have technical notes from me, rare pictures from my career, liner notes written by me, audiophile sound, amazing packaging and some other very cool surprises.
Hi the cd/vinyl release is planned for later in the year and is part of a Phase 2 Campaign. Pledgers get 30% off the full cd/vinyl if you've pledged during this Phase 1. We are not definite that a full release will happen but that is the plan.
Hope that explains. Right now you get individual downloads as Allan finishes them.

    Thanks again for the support!

OK. But if you don't delete the source HD files you can burn a new copy when the old one wears out or gets damaged, right?

Yes, but the digital version on your hard drive won't age (as long as you back it up), so you can always burn another one....
