I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down.'- Bob Newhart

Around the universe in 80 days, Hope, both by Klaatu (although I think Hope could be classified as Klaatu's progressive album).

Amazing songs. I think it shows how some of these artist had the talent and ability to write prog stuff, but just chose not to over indulge in that arena.... rather keep the focus on song craft and or writing great songs. I think a lot of prog bands failed miserably in that department... weird, trippy creative stuff, but no song anywhere to be seen. This still goes on today.

I think it is hard to draw the line as to whether or not a band is prog or not. Led Zeppelin is a perfect example of a band that wrote some of the best prog songs. Jones, maybe didn't have the chops of Rick Wakeman, but he understood composition, texture and how to support a song with keys in a way that many other better players didn't have.

In the Light, No Quarter, Rain Song, Song Remains the Same, Achilles, Stairway, Kashmir, Ten Years Gone...some of the best songs they did were certainly prog classics on their own.
