There are, shall we say, two sides to the Danny Seraphine story.

The remaining members of the original band will tell you that his playing went to hell. I've never heard that in a bootleg, and he sounds great with California Transit Authority.

His side of the story is that he was the grownup in the room, that he was the only one not getting silly with drugs, and he had to handle the business side of things, and the other guys resented it.

You pays your money and you takes your choice.
Cobra handling and cocaine use are a bad mix.

As usual, there are (at least) two sides.

I think I gave up before the first season was over and I thought Dank & Dabby were the only funny things on the show... but even they started getting a little tiresome.

You pretty much need to be high when you watch it or don't bother.

Just found a series we'd never heard of on Netflix, The Frankenstein Chronicles. Sean Bean stars and apparently stays alive through the whole thing. A well-crafted production and I'm surprised I'd never heard of this before. Bean is a cop working the River Thames beat when he finds a corpse of a girl who turns out to be a composite of several children. Everyone is corrupt, Bean has some issues in his past to work through, conspiracies abound, and we're intrigued after one episode.

Watched the first episode of the following shows, Thursday night. If I had to rank them based on how much I was pulled into the story and how much I liked them, this is how I'd rank them:

Grand Prix Driver - a rare look at the inner workings of a Formula 1 team: the second most successful team in F1 history, McLaren. Seems to be a half hour show.
Line of Duty - An anti-corruption unit of the English police investigate a Detective Chief Inspector, played by Lennie James (Morgan, from The Walking Dead). So far, so good.
Babylon Berlin - Taking place in 1920s Germany, a police inspector, shell-shocked from his service in World War I, uncovers a dangerous web of intrigue when he investigates an underground porn ring. As good as Line of Duty.
Frankenstein Chronicles - Also mentioned above. Not bad, but I'm hoping it gets better. I think part of my problem with this show is Sean Bean. I think Bean's a good actor but the characters I've seen him play where he has a prominent role (Spence in Ronin, Boromir in Fellowship of the Ring, and now the lead in this show) have a common trait: he's emotionally troubled or damaged. <sigh>

Hate to throw prog discussion in to the mix... Couple things:

Big Little Lies - the very cute young daughter (like around 10 years old) has great taste in music and flaunts it...referenced Bowie once...but one episode featured a version of Zappa's King Kong as a score type thing! Was really cool actually. Lots of great music on that show, believe it or not.

The Goldbergs - Ok took me a while to get the genius of this. Denise has been trying to get me to watch for a while...I finally buckled...man am I hooked now. Our cable service gives us Atlanta's Peachtree and they have 2 epis every night. Just fucking brilliant stuff. Takes place in the 80s... there's a couple episodes where there's a Rush geek involved. Pretty funny. One time the protagonist sister went out with the guy, then they broke up and he commented that her short lived visit to the world of progressive rock was over... somethin like that lol.

Who knows, probably late to the party on both of these, but just in case...

HBO will be running a marathon of the first season of Westworld on Saturday, HBO2. I missed it the first time around so I'm cleaning out my DVR today.

BABYLON BERLIN is an excellent show, watched the whole thing in 3 days. Did not see Bryan Ferry, wouldn't he be an old guy now? All German cast...sub titles.

I think I watched one episode, with the intention to pick it up again. Just so much to watch any more.

It's true. Although I'm ready to start a new series, but there's so much to watch I can't pull the trigger on anything. What do I watch?!

I'm simultaneously (sorta) bingeing on both Jessica Jones season 2 on Netflix & The Looming Tower on Hulu.

Jeff Daniels (who has an impressive body of work already) has never been better than in "Tower" imo. Krysten Ritter pushes my erecto-meter every time I see her.
