And then there are those among us who like both - 'though perhaps for somewhat different reasons.
However, I *DO* note a certain tendency thowards onesiders of one camp appearing a bit more informed about the other camp than those others are about their alleged "adversary".

Last november I travelled from Brazil to London to attend Lindsay Cooper's memorial gig and as a bonus I indulged myself with a travel to Paris to attend Magma at Le Triton. Since I had previously seen them at the same venue in 2006 I was not expecting much. Actually it turned out to be an outrageously ferocious gig. I dare to say it was the best concert I've ever attended in my whole life. They played KA, Kohntarkosz and E-Re. Bottom line is: Magma are at the top of their game. If they actually make it to the US, please do not miss it! It's the type of concert one is supposed to go and bring all friends and relatives you love for a truly unique experience.

If they actually play Kohntarkosz and Ehmenteht Re, I will see as many shows as humanly possible. Those were the two long pieces that were played at NEARfest 2007, and that blew my mind.

Hi, cannygoodlike. Maybe I expressed myself badly. The 2006 gig was terrific. It's just that I was pretty much expecting to "see the same movie again" (even the same setlist) in November, so I assumed I knew what I was going to see. How wrong I was... the November gig was the best gig I have seen by any band in my whole life. There are rumours they are coming to Brazil this year. No way I'm gonna miss them regardless of the city they play.
So, I wrote to Reggie's to ask about Magma, and they were kind enough to get back to me rather quickly, with this piece of information, which I was told I can share: "we should be announcing next week!! they'll be playing our bigger room, cactus is on our smaller side!!" Turns out the guy who wrote back- Bob Glick- was at the Magma show at Martyr's way back in 1999, as was I. Small world!
I'm not lazy. I just work so fast I'm always done.
can not wait to see in my the town.

Anyone has an updated list of the gigs in the USA?
I sure hope an LA gig in early April is for real!
Saw them at the House of Blues (with P-Tree) back in 1999.
Too bad there won't be a BajaProg this year. The early April time frame would have worked out perfectly.
And if there were a god, I think it very unlikely that he would have such an uneasy vanity as to be offended by those who doubt His existence - Russell
Chicago is April 10, as I noted above, at Reggie's Music Stage in the south Loop. Show will be announced next week, and it will be held in the larger of the 2 ballrooms (Cactus is playing in the other at the same time. The mind reels!).

Just noticed on their FB page that the NYC gig is at a place called Le poisson rouge. I'm definitely going to come up from Pittsburgh for this. Doesn't look so far from Grand Central.
If any of you savvy NY'ers have any advice on getting around it would be much appreciated......
Can we buy tickets to the NYC gig? I don't see it on the le poisson rouge website. looks like that place is in the West Village on bleecker st. pretty easy to get to by subway if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the info everyone! The location was just from one comment on their FB page concerning NY so I don't think anything's official as of yet.
Here's the link before anyone calls me a liar (haha).

I'm good for NYC!
no tunes, no dynamics, no nosebone
Le Poisson Rouge is a bit small. Hopefully it won't be a standing show. But it could be. Prog fans are old. We need seats!
The Boston show is on Saturday, April 11th, at the Brighton Music Hall. Never been there but may have to for this show.
The night before at the same venue will be the northwest garage band, The Sonics. Oh, man, what a weekend!

Might make my first trip to NYC for this. Psyched.
