    Modern-Day Singer-Songwriters Worth Checking Out?

Who are the modern Nick Drakes, Bruce Cockburns, Joni Mitchells, etc... of today's music scene? Please post some camples... I'd like to expand my collection in this genre...

I'd prefer if you stick to lesser known, current artists... The rest I leave up to you.

Note: I'm not a fan of syrupy love ballads and lush orchestration.

Thanks.. I definitely like both Francey and Porter, not so much Fearing. I'll do some further investigating..

Highly recommend Porter. He's immensely popular in Madtown and plays here at least 10 times annually. His keys player in his live band (Dave Adler-also in The Gomers who I sing with from time to time) is a friend of mine.

Brooks Williams, an excellent guitarist and songwriter. Albums I really enjoy are Seven Sisters, Knife Edge, Hundred Year Shadow.
Seven Sisters album features Hugh Marsh on violin. He's also worked with Bruce Cockburn.

Michael Jerling. He has a great sounding baritone voice. I like one of his early albums, New Suit Of Clothes.

Tim O'Brien. Legendary multi instrumentalist, vocalist, and great songwriter. I recommend When No One's Around
    or Rock In My Shoe.

Big Todd Snider fan here too. I have a lot of his albums and have seen him live a couple of times. One of them best IMO.
