I knew you were in the Armed Forces, Steve, but I didn't know you supported mercenaries!

I don't think that the reverse is necessarily so, and I agree with those who say he'll have to compete to be the starter. However, he has the psychological edge, in that Urb knows this guy can win the big games. Barrett may not be ready in time for Spring practice, which could also complicate things. Jones knew he wasn't ready for the NFL yet, and starting and performing well would greatly increase his draft stock and financial outlook. Also, don't underestimate the influence of Ted Ginn Sr in Jones's decision. I'd wager he had at least as much influence as Meyer did.
I agree that Miller is the odd man out, but he has no realistic shot of being an NFL quarterback, and probably can't take the pounding at running back, although he'd be spectacular until he got hurt. He needs to find another position where he can use his athleticism and attract the attention of NFL scouts.
If Cardale doesn't win the starting job in the Spring, he can always drop out and claim hardship, and enter the Supplemental draft in the Summer. He's not without options.
Mike Golic was saying pretty much the same thing this morning.

As for Barrett & Jones, Jones handles the big games well, but Barrett was the one who got them to that point in the first place. I don't think it's a lock for any of them. And I think if Miller was smart, he'd switch to WR or safety. He's got the size and speed (4.3 40).

I was also just looking at the NFL's mock draft and guess where they've got Devin Smith going. Cleveland. Better than the Bungles, I suppose, but still...

Well, given that his family is Catholic and that there were 8 Popes named Urban, I'd be willing to bet that might have something to do with it.

Don't want to turn this political, but Walker is a bona fide idiot.

I've heard from some that they would rather see Walker run for president, even if he won, so that at least the state could restore some civility and sane judgement to the office of governor.

It's amazing to me that he was re-elected.

Afaic, not run down at all, Steve. It's just another (turd) feather in his cap.

All around him former members of his staff when he was Milwaukee County Executive are still being investigated, some are still in jail, and you can bet that there are thankfully others that are still trying to find enough evidence to directly implicate Walker.

Gov. George Wallace, Michelle Bachmann, Sarah Palin and yes, even Hillary Clinton don't come close to Walker's ability to polarize and his hubris.

Several members of my wife’s family work for the state in Madison and they have pretty strong opinions on Walker too.

    Negative, I'm to assume?

Here in OH, Gov Kasich did much the same as Walker. After the bill (SB 5) was passed there was innuendo about making Ohio a right to work state. Members of public unions got petitions out to get an initiative on the ballot reversing SB 5. They needed roughly 300 thousand signatures and got millions. That Nov, SB 5 was defeated by a 2 to 1 margin. Kasich back pedaled on the right to work talk.

    Ohio obviously has:

    1. A better organization of the sane and rational than here in Wisconsin, with superior organizational skills.

    2. Much larger cojones than wimpy, wussy Wisconsin.

Yes, negative. Sorry, didn't really make that clear. On the other hand two of my wife's brothers are on the complete opposite end of the political spectrum and think he is a hero. It makes for interesting family gatherings at holidays.......

Oh no! I have the same situation here. My former wife and 3 of my 5 kids are evangelical Christians and think Walker is Don Quixote jousting with the dreaded socialists and winning.

Of my 2 other kids, one is a cognitively impaired special needs adopted child from Romania who is chronologically almost 30, but in reality is like a normal 12 year old and doesn't vote.

The other one is Peter (progeezer's ghost in these parts), who does indeed profess that he is also a Christian, attends church, and has a very close friend who is a pastor!). However, he does not vote the same way as the rest of his family (except me), and still likes his from time to time.

So 20% of my kids are like me, and 80% are like their mother.

You couldn't be more wrong, Steve. The stories I could tell you. We just happen to have a strong union tradition.

As one simple example: my cousin's wife is a public school teacher and supported Kasich. How's that for shooting yourself in the foot? Which is also a pun, as it turns out, because her father owns a gun shop which also employs my cousin as some sort of VP.

More than half of my immediate family are fundies and 70% or more of my extended family are, as well. The things I've heard them say at family functions, most of it steeped in ignorance and some of it actually bordering on racism.

But we all love the Buckeyes!

To be honest…….when it comes to my wife’s family I just try to get along with everyone and stay away from political or religious discussions. She has 7 siblings, all with husbands / wives and some with kids. All born and raised in Wisconsin (although not all still living there). It is an interesting dynamic for sure.

My favorite high-tension, politically-charged moment came when my nephew started criticizing and making jokes about gays... during Easter dinner! My brother (his dad) and father soon joined in. Everyone else just sat there eating. After a couple of minutes my then wife suddenly said, "you know, my best friend is a lesbian!" There was dead silence for about 3 minutes. I don't think I was ever more proud of her than at that moment. lol
