I'm pretty sure the same website let me listen to the new Swans album back in May I think.

Hoping for good things on this one. Vs. Evil didn't really do much for me and I never got around to getting Breakup Song. Probably will pick it up with this new one.

Meh. Not to say this isn't a great song, but I don't hear much new since Friend Opportunity. They just keep churning out the same album. I happen to like that same album, but I also expect evolution and growth.

in spite of all that, I wouldn't pass up a chance to see them live again as they put on a fun show. Last time I saw them the Planet of the Apes soundtrack came on during the intermission. I went up to the booth to ask who's playlist that was and Saunier was there with his iPod - we chatted movie soundtracks before they went on.

I'm too lazy to listen - can someone describe what Deerhoof sounds like?

A bit like Roine Morse waking up from a carcrash having forgotten English while in coma yet learnt female nippon and only having heard The Shaggs' Philosophy of the World exclusively.

Actually, Deerhoof recorded a Shaggs' cover ('My pal Foot-Foot'). For dancin' fools only.

They are somewhere in the Pop spectrum with a solid dash of inventiveness and creativity.

The first Deerhoof album I got, and the guy behind the counter tried his best at hitting me off with one of their other albums saying Offend Maggie wasn't "[...] really representative". I told him I wanted it for Ed Rodriguez and mentioned other bands of the latter that I really liked (The Flying Luttenbachers, Colossamite etc.). Turned out he never realized Ed R. had been in those.

Fave songs - Milk Man, C (both from Milk Man) The Perfect Me (Friend Opportunity)
    Fave album - Milk Man

Deerhoof is a lot of things. Fun, energetic, noisy, off-kilter, original, occasionally experimental, pop. But definitely not post rock.

I was about to mention this one - such a great song, definitely my favorite as well as the album it's on.

My band Uphill Work played on the same bill with Deerhoof a few years ago. They were all really nice, kept telling me that they liked our stuff, and we hang out together nicely before their show. Then they got on stage, and our jaws dropped to the floor! I particularly enjoyed Greg Saunier bashing his ultra-minimal drum kit - proves you don't need a lot of gear to keep the music interesting and varied.

Very much looking forward to hear the new album as soon as it reaches these shores.

What is this? "Scared of trying"-week? No, they're much more menacingly punk-rock than what's said at Wiki.

Christ, will you get down tu business and just listen to the fucking band already?
