How was this period?
How was this period?
"Alienated-so alien I go!"
A little too much of its time for my tastes. I purchased it because I was a "completist." Renaissance was evolving in a direction to which I never warmed.

That album had a couple good songs but mostly was very weak. The one before camera camera was better.
Worst album by that band ....ever.
I’ve only heard “Flight,” and then only in a live version. It was not a bad song, not embarrassing, but I understand it was the only good song on the album. I have all the ones before it, though (including the two Illusion albums, if you count those).
Confirmed Bachelors: the dramedy hit of 1883...
I love Camera Camera. It was a different sound for Renaissance, but I thought they pulled it off really well. This one, I have to agree with the majority that there are at least a couple of nice songs (including the single "Richard IX"), but otherwise it's pretty dispensable.
liked some of Camera Camera (title, Okichi San, Remember) but hated TL. lost interest after that.
"She said you are the air I breathe
The life I love, the dream I weave."
Unevensong - Camel
"Okichi San" was by far the best track on an otherwise crappy album, and would not have been out of place on a much earlier album.
"My choice early in life was either to be a piano player in a whorehouse or a politician, and to tell the truth, there's hardly any difference"
President Harry S. Truman
Atrocious, like the cover.
Anyway, I lost all interest with "Azure d'or" and never really bothered with later albums.
I love Azure D'Or
Rather like 'Camera Camera'
Not a fan of 'Time Line', but it does have one gem, 'Chagrin Boulevard'. Also, 'The Entertainer' and 'Distant Horizons' are pretty nice, the rest so-so. Songs like 'Richard The Ninth' to me pretty much suck. Maybe I'd feel differently if I heard it today, but I remember that was the song that I'm like, 'huh?'. Much of the album was written by Jon Camp, by the way.
It has been years since I have heard it, but I remember thinking that they were trying to sound like Berlin………..and Berlin this type of music much better.
Would I be correct then saying this is Renaissance's Love Beach?
"Alienated-so alien I go!"
Rather fascinating subject!

Haven't heard the rekkid . . . . . . . .
Hired on to work for Mr. Bill Cox, a-fixin' lawn mowers and what-not, since 1964.

I have Timeline. It's OK but nothing like the classic albums. I have never heard Camera, Camera but would love to find a used vinyl LP. I do like Symphony of Light. Very good album.

She'll be standing on the bar soon
With a fish head and a harpoon
and a fake beard plastered on her brow.
If that hair is a genuine 80s 'do, that means the back of her head is flat. Knowing that I shall reveal my sexist bent, when you see a face like that coming towards you, the only thing you're looking at when she passes you is her ass.

Is an expert on 80's hair styles a thing that looks impressive on your resume?
"Alienated-so alien I go!"
This is the time period when they became more and more acoustic...unlike the Novella period where orchestra and 5 piece band shared the composition with some oddball time signatures and dreamy ambient soundscapes.
