He said the concert was being recorded for AXS TV, and will be part of a dvd release. Dennis and his band put on a terrific 2-hour show, playing all the hits from his Styx days along with a few of his solo songs. The man is 67, his voice was strong, he plays a decent keyboard, and he has an engaging stage presence. Between songs, he fondly recalled the early days with Styx. If there is any animosity between him and his ex-bandmates, DeYoung certainly did not show it. The older you get, the less the old nonsense matters.
"After the show, my wife wants to buy a cd at the merchadise table, of what else, a cd of DeYoung's hits with Styx. Once in the car, she puts the cd in the player, and off we go. She says she does not recognize any of the songs, none of these were played at the concert. Turns out she mistakingly bought DeYoung's solo album, One Hundred Years from Now ! The good thing about that is PE's own Ernie Denov played guitar on that DeYoung solo cd.
