Thread: Monomyth

    Monomyth

A few weeks ago I started a thread about "dark, heavy, spacey instrumental bands" and this band's name kept popping up. I've picked up both of their albums since then, and they are phenomenal. Love that krautrock groove. Enjoy...

Lots of concert footage on youtube as well:

I have both at home. I'll be getting to at least one of them this weekend.

Definitely. I picked these up recently as well. The first one is all thumbs up for me, particularly "The Groom Lake Engine." The second one I'm just settling into. I can already tell it is a grower.

There is some sweet music being made nowadays.

It's streaming at Progstreaming. I'm going to see them in The Hague end of this month. I'm curious.

They seem to play live pretty regularly, and they sound really strong live. From the stuff I've heard, they stick pretty close to the studio versions.

I love the artwork they've selected, such a great underground comix feel.

A new album is due on March 18th!

That's the same day the new Causa Sui drops, and the day I go see Magma for the first time.

    A big day for me.

They have been one of my favorite new bands since discovering them a few years back. There are a couple of killer shows on DIME!

That first video sounds vaguely like Primus' Southbound Pachyderm.

I've had the new album in my ears for a few days now. It didn't bowl me over at first listen, but it is warming up quickly.

I have to say, at present, they are my favorite spacerock outfit.

Listening to Further for the first time at the moment. Definitely some nice, groovy space rock here. I love the use of the simple organ chords in Ark M, with the bass and guitar rocking that crunchy ostinato underneath. Just the right amount of harmonic color and forward momentum. Mixing and mastering sounds great to my ears, too. Very organic and not overly refined. I'm in love already.

I liked the krautrock vibe on this one. On the "purchase" list.
