Wow!
Brilliant
He's no Buddy Rich.
You can hear Ringo's influence.
"The White Zone is for loading and unloading only. If you got to load or unload go to the White Zone!"
For someone pushing 65, he still has his speed. Looks like the years are finally catching up to his waistline, however. I noticed he also alternates between the matched and classic grip.
I wish they would reform The Shaggs With this guy drumming. "My Pal Foot-Foot" would take on an even more transcendent feel.
"Improvisation is not an excuse for musical laziness" - Fred Frith
"[...] things that we never dreamed of doing in Crimson or in any band that I've been in," - Tony Levin speaking of SGM
Man, I just can't get into drum solos; they simply don't work for me. I seldom hear anything musical in them. Now a drummer soloing against a band, or a percussionist, or something like that, has a much greater chance of being musical, and interesting to me.
And I'm a drummer. Go figure.

Carl Palmer's drum solo from the Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood, NJ. hasn't ended yet...
I've always enjoyed CP's solos and find them to be a great mix of playing and theatrics...I think this one suffers from poor sound quality though (too bass-y and reverb-y) or it would sound much more impressive. For me, the most "musical" drum solo I have on record is Barriemore Barlow's Conundrum from Tull's Bursting Out album.

One of his best solos..
I absolutely love Barrie's drum solo near the beginning of side 2 of Thick as a Brick as well...the only other prog studio album I can think of with as interesting a drum solo is Hymn to the Atman - and I'm not much of a Kansas fan
