Have great trip, young man. Kona beer is good. They also have a winery there, though I've not sampled their products.

Looking forward to my day in court.

    Main island? Maui? Oahu?

The Lt. Dan Band used to play 2 gigs in Oahu every February and every other year, I'd bring my "sweeter half" with me and we'd stay a couple of extra days. I love it! That's the only Hawaiian island I've been to and we stopped going there because this rich CEO guy who used to subsidize those trips got in a bunch of legal trouble. I miss it!

Tell us how great a time you had when you get back, Steve!

    WEEEEELLLLLLLLL!

If you wanted me dead, too f*****g bad, cause the old people just got back home to Madison 2 hours ago. Still unpacking and sorting through 2 weeks of emails, snail mails & phone msgs after 2 hours!

Dan (Sturgeon Man), only now do I know what your first sentence meant, and we did.

I would retire there tomorrow if we could afford it as well. It's beyond staggeringly beautiful, and since Kay uses oxygen and needed wheelchair assistance at times in airports, all the people who do that on the mainland could learn textbooks worth of stuff about attitude, friendliness and personality (which is reflected in a much much broader expanse all throughout the islands).

They call it paradise for a reason.

Will probably be back online as usual later tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks for the belly laughs (especially from Kay)!!

You haven't cleared that up, Steve. Which of the islands were you and Kay on?

Oops, my bad, Ernie. I thought you were confirming rather than asking.

We spent the first 3 days in Oahu staying with Kay's former colleague at UW & her husband. We were chauffeured around the island and it was great. Then we island hopped on Hawaiian Airlines to Hawaii (The Big Island), with its volcanoes. Due to Kay's lung issues I didn't spend a lot of time there with her waiting in the car, but did get to see a little bubbling. After 2 days there (primarily by the pool & beach) we hopped to Maui for our last 3 days and indulged ourselves with massages at the resort/spa where we were staying and drove through one of Dole's pineapple plantations. Other than that, more sedentary time at beach/pool.

Other than the airport crap we needed to do (Porters, wheelchairs, carts etc.), it was very restful. It probably wasn't the perfect time to do this (Kay), but we had vouchers for travel that had to be used by the end of November, and she'd never been to Hawaii (courtesy of the US Navy I had been there a loooong time ago).

    Sorry for the confusion.

Well apparently I was; I just didn't know it. Never been to the big island or Maui. I love Oahu, but I'd like to make the rounds. Unfortunately, they have boating restrictions, so you either have to island hop via plane or cruise ship, neither of which I could afford.

It really is paradise though, isn't it?!

Closest thing to paradise I've seen, and you don't even have to leave the country.

I'm guessing that Fiji, Tahiti & Bora Bora would also be up there.

Glad to hear that you didn't get held-up at all with this terrible lava issue that they're dealing with at this Kilauea Volcano, Steve!

Exactly where I saw the (at the time) normal minimal bubbling, Scott. Just 2 weeks shy of being in the wrong place at the wrong time!

    Who knew?

You may have missed your one chance to do a live reenactment of an actual Genesis song.

    Just sayin'.
