You might give Haley Westenra a try. She sings in the same genre as Charlotte. I discovered her on Mike Oldfield's "Music of the Spheres".

A current fav of mine is Charlotte Hatherley's new record True Love. I was never a fan of the band she was in (Ash) so was quite surprised to see the direction she was going in now. Very electronic/ambient...but basically a really good pop album. Great vid too:

No, this is the kind of stuff Charlotte Church used to do as a kid. I was referring to her Progressive-Pop EP's that she released a while back. Anyways, seems Charlotte shifted gears again and she's doing glorified cover shows now.

An artist who would fit in any gender based thread. Just an incredible voice.

4 KC then 2 Rush covers, with pretty good (or better!) vocal performances pitch-accuracywise.
The first vocalist has 2 more similar KC at same youtube acct and another one at Cal Gtr Trio acct.
The last vocalist has an almost Enya-like soft-vocals take on a band's Rush-like performance of a Rush song :-)

I remember Jayney from the band she was in with her two brothers, The Other Ones. Two minor hits: “Holiday” and “We Are What We Are.”

It’s reminding me of Cado Belle, the soul-rock band Maggie Reilly was in before hooking up with Mike Oldfield. Her voice here reminds me of Gwen Dickey’s. (I also never realized until watching this video how TINY she is! She looks like a Hummel figurine compared to her band members!)

The best female progressive rock singer on the planet is a no brainer for me: Ana Torres from Universal Totem Orchestra. They have 3 albums out over a near 20 year span. She sings mostly in Latin and Italian, however, it really doesn't matter.
I can't recommend the band highly enough. I would start with the last of the 3 - Mathematical Mother. For me, a truly brilliant progressive rock album, one of the Italian greats of all time. The 2nd The Magus is also brilliant. The albums take time to open up, the songs are long and have so many brilliant things going on. Prog, jazz, space, fusion, zheul. If you take the time, you'll be rewarded...and you'll fall in love with Ana torres like I did.

Toyah was actually really exciting at the beginning (Sheep Farming in Barnet and The Blue Meaning), an actual, vital British alternative to the Nina Hagen Band. Unfortunately, I first discovered Toyah during the later period, which was like an embarrassingly watered-down version of same. Still, glad I gave them a second chance. “Ieya” is such a post-punk epic.

I've always liked this one, composed by Tony Banks (from his album Soundtracks), and sung by Toyah.
