Major Parkinson - superb discovery

Noticed there was no thread about this band, I was perusing progstreaming.com and came across this gem:

Easily one of my favorite new discoveries, this is a fantastic album. Their own description is quite apt: "Somewhere in between pop and psychosis, somber poetry and dark rock, there is Major Parkinson. A fearless and distinctly different band, with a fresh, unconventional approach to the art of writing music."

The featured track Impermanence is a great place to start.

I have also become quite fond of this band over the past few months. Their latest CD has received a great deal of my attention. I'd love to see George bring them to RoSFest. I think folks would enjoy them a lot. Their first two CDs can be heard at ProgStreaming Classic, and all three can be heard at Bandcamp. Very worthwhile IMHO.

I love this band, and had Twilight Cinema in my top 10 albums from 2014.

M.P are amongst the few current bands (along with Birds and Buildings) who really brings something new and original to the prog genre, not endlessly repeating/copying the same old cliches and formulas (no names...). Twilight Cinema is outstanding and highly recommended. Like most hard to categorize bands they're sadly unknow/underrated. One of my favorite bands and I'll definitely check their latest work as soon as it will be available in physical format. (when ?)

Heard it today. Good record. 2 excellent epics including 1 titled "Baseball"

dark/dark wave/ cinematic, although not that different from their previous stuff. The female vocalist adds something new, along with it being maybe more of a true concept album.

I saw that also since I have bought from their bandcamp. I have VERY much enjoyed getting into this band this year and have bought everything I can find. Why the new single? Any upcoming CDs? Blackbox was very recent...

Oh now I get it! I sat down and listened to the whole of 'Blackbox' last night and I kept thinking -"they have got to be Cardiacs fans, I've not hear keyboards like that for a while". And then I saw that video and read the interview -they like Cardiacs and Alamaailman Vasarat -even better! There wasn't a bad track on the album and 'Madeline Crumbles' hooked me straightaway. I've dabbled in the past, and their growly vocals put me off, but I see I'm going to have to put some work in and get used to them -the tunes and arrangements are just too good to ignore

I spent some time with their "Black Box" album a few weeks ago and was so impressed. Those deep almost spoken vocals, so much character. And that one song that triggered emotions in me like I haven't felt with music in a while. That song is "Before The Helmets".
