So... the Super Bowl half-time show will go to the highest bidder? That's just great. But then again, I never enjoyed it anyway. I hate that it exists. I wished it would stop.

it's not like the artiste that played the NFL HT spot were having problems meeting both ends at the end of the month, right?? It's pure annoying crud from music můillionaires in 95% of the cases anyway, so making them pay for a chance to get even more exposure sounds like good business tactics...
Now, if the NFL gave Thinking Plague or Anglagard a shot at its HT show, I'd probably think different.

I predict that large companies like Coca Cola will 'sponsor' the halftime show in exchange for product placement and getting the artist to do an actual TV commercial to endorse their product. So the artist won't "pay" to do the halftime show, they'll just plug some product in exchange.

+1...I gave up on that sport many years ago. I just don't have 3 consecutive, spare hours to stare at a screen. And the Superbowl is just one big Ad campaign.

I believe so. They probably covered production costs and maybe accommodations for the artist, if I were to speculate.

Clearly, they are not greasing the right palms.
Why stop at halftime entertainment? Why not have the two teams that come up with the most cash play in the Super Bowl?
