Big 10, even a personal big 10, should in some way reflect 10 BIG prog bands. Not 10 that most people have never heard of!
Big 10 shouldn't just be a list of your favourite 10 prog bands, which for me is exactly what #8 is.
You may have read it, but I get the impression you didn't get the message.
And why should anyone's big ten reflect in some way 10 BIG prog bands?
I don't give a damn what anyone else thinks are big prog bands. Big prog bands are the bands I like the most, played the hell out of and are mostly represented in my collection.
I own some Yes, Genesis and ELP, but if I can't obtain them cheap, I don't buy them.

It's only music people. There seems to be a lot of anger here over just music.

Well you (as usual) are the one telling us what we can and can't pick while the OP's post made it crystal clear it was open to personal top 10's.

I blame Wynton, what was the question?

Not true, my threads are always very unconditional and very open. Go back and have a look.

Oh you mean my reply here. I see.
Well if the OP meant 10 favourites, I'm sure he would have written 10 favs but I'm assuming he wrote Big 10 because he meant Big 10 not 10 favourites...maybe not..whatever.

    The OP's original post.

    1) King Crimson - USA '75
    2) Genesis - Nursery Cryme '71
    3) Jethro Tull - A Passion Play '73
    4) Gentle Giant - Three Friends '72
    5) Yes - Relayer '74
    6) ELP - Brain Salad Surgery '73
    7) Ange - Emile Jacotey '75
    8) Van Der Graaf Generator - Pawn Hearts '71
    9) Frank Zappa - YCDTOSA 2, The Helsinki Concert '74
    10) Camel - Mirage '74

Apparently the 70's ended in 1975 for me
Emphasis added, clearly by having Ange on the list and referring to "your" big 10 it's pretty much open to pick who we like. But go ahead and keep interpreting his words whichever way you like.

Fair enough...but it just seems odd to me...just call the thread Fav 10 instead then.

The first 5 are my personal "Big 5." But I never heard of the whole "Big 5" thing until I started hanging around here. I've always been amused that nobody can agree on it. If this thread proves anything, it's that the Big Whatever is whatever you want it to be. And that's fine by me!
