Just reviewed this set for the next edition of Prog magazine. They sound fab to my ears!
Whenever I think of Daevid Allen I smile. I'm smiling today, thankful that I saw him play & can carry on listening to his music.

It's this one, Henry
Like everyone here I'm saddened by the news from Daevid. I interviewed him last year for an article in Prog mag which you can read over on the blog.
I have no idea what any of those numbers mean but my ears tell me that the difference between the Compact Price Virgin discs of the 80s and this new set is absolutely marginal.
I saw Genesis on their first proper headling tour (I think) around the release of Foxtrot and the venue, Newcastle City Hall, was pretty much sold out. That's around 1900 - 2000 people. It was that...

The original letter back in August 1969 was written in Irish not Jamaican dialect.
I agree with many of the sentiments expressed here. A great artist and so much bigger than just the guy from Cream. My own thoughts on his passing on the blog and an appreciation of my favourite...
In know I'm biased but the package looks great (scroll down the page for the Relayer section)

Here's a minute or so audio clip of King Crimson in rehearsal
Not sure I'd agree with the view that "Star's End is pure timbral cacophonic orchestrations, with the near-grotesque input from Mike Oldfield (on electric guitar) and Chris Cutler (precision...
I was honoured to be asked to write the liner notes for this edition and to my ears this is one of Steven Wilson's very best remixes. If you're a GG fan it's a must-have.
It's interesting to compare the approaches of the big labels and the smaller indies.
When it comes to King Crimson, Panegyric/DGM cater for three different kinds of KC fans: hard core Crimheads &...
Cancelled my order once I heard the 5.1 mix wasn't included in the 3-disc set. You have to wonder if small indie labels can do low-cost 5.1 editions why can't the majors?
No you're not.
Weather Report Mysterious Traveller

Thanks for the feedback, folks. The Knells album kind of stopped me cold. Such an intriguing sound.
This month there's a round-up of some of the new and newish releases that have come across my desk in the yellow room. There's some Crimson-esque pop from Dee Day Dub, stonking Nordic prog jazz from...

Hi Dave - I feel your pain. I was after Flood for years & never got it on CD because it was a Japanese import only. Avoided the cheaper mp3 chiefly because of a lack of that cover artwork which I...

In the end I just...

A great little album this - Scot was a great performer in concert when I saw him and a lovely bloke into the bargain. This isn't a prog album at all but an excellent snapshot of when bands were keen...
