I agree with some of the previous comments about missed opportunities about what to keep, change or remove on these reworked albums.

I agree with some of the previous comments about missed opportunities about what to keep, change or remove on these reworked albums.
I have posted a review on www.dimensions-in-sound-and-space.com
I posted here a while ago about a new website I was developing to review Prog Rock and other forms of music.
I am happy to say that, as we are approaching 2000 visitors, it has been everything I...

REVIEWS OF:
HAKEN's marvelous Metal Prog album FAUNA - a definite contender for one of the...
Thanks- if you could give me a name and an e-mail address for me to keep on record that would be great,
Thanks for all your suggestions, and in particular for HAKEN's FAUNA and the fascinating PoiL UEDA - will be listening to these for a while to come, I expect.
Judging by the early lack of response to our book on EUROPEAN PROGRESSIVE ROCK its future publication already seems in doubt. This surprises me as it is the only book of its kind on the subject...
A very perceptive review - have always had a soft spot for LIZARD.
Probably my favourite album of all.
Looking forward to it.
Or alternatively, you can let me know if you are interested here.
AROUND EUROPE IN 180 PROGRESSIVE ROCK GROUPS has a projected publication date of December, 2023, perhaps sooner.
it is being written by Scotsman PHIL JACKSON (over 25 years of music writing and...
Enjoyed interview with Malcolm Galloway about Hats Off Gentlemen's new album - very comprehensive and revealing.
Thanks for the message. Have linked to your site from our

Pity there's no new album. Might they record a live one?
More on HIGH TIDE: I see the boxset replaces the single CD releases on Esoteric which are now deleted. I agree it that the bonus CD may seem a tad disappointing, but given the paucity of available...
I have always loved their stuff and I think it was Dean Holt, the bass player with his Fiction band who sent me copies of 'DNA, The Brain, The Universe', and some live unreleased CDs and a DVD. Tony...
That should be Oliver Wakeman of course - oops! Another Popeye moment!!
Thanks for the link. I can understand why Kevin would write about this particular album as it is the first YES album he heard. I must admit to having a soft spot for it as well, although it wouldn't...
I take it SHAMBLEMATHS has already been mentioned. Was blown away by their first, but haven't got round to listening to their follow-up yet.
Me too. Have just reviewed it for www.dimensions-in-sound-and-space.com
Takes me back to Soft Machine (the fuzz organ), Hatfield and the North and all the things that were great about Canterbury...
What should I be listening to?
Excellent site. Thanks for introducing me to Hats Off Gentlemen It's Adequate. The messages about the failure of political leaders and repeating past mistakes are most apt.I wish more musical artists...
This what it's about. Been reviewing this kind of stuff for nigh on 25 years now and promoted 'one man bands' (I am one also as Paradox One on Bandcamp and have worked with some great people over the...

Interesting observation - thanks.
Thanks to Progatron and others. So far, I prefer what I have heard of the Jazz Quartet ones with Steve Hamilton on piano. Still a long way for me to go!
Sorry to have to re-post this, but it has been pointed out to me that I didn't include the link to my website in my previous post.

Hi Thanks for getting back.
The website is

Just to clarify in response to a rather loopy and insulting reply I got my new website is not in any way set up in competition to Progressive Ears - that would be absurd! In fact, the very opposite....
An insightful review. Broadly agree, and think they have done well to keep themselves relevant. F.E.A.R was an important part of that process. There are great pieces on all of their albums and the...
Thanks for the info - looking forward to it. I wish people wouldn't turn your post into a general conversation about their perceived quality of Marillion albums though. Always make a point of going...
Didn't catch your name, but thanks for that - much appreciated. The starting points are much appreciated. Phil
Didn't catch your name, but thanks for that amazing insight. I feel I can make a serious start to listening now. Please keep in touch. Phil
Am contributing to Martin Strong's latest mammoth discography. 'The Old Testament' (to 1975) is at his publishers - more news on that soon for those of you who remember the Great Rock Discographies....
A brilliant album, as is Danger Money.
THE NICE DUNDEE 1970
VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR/ GENESIS DUNDEE CHARISMA cheapo tour 1971?
EGG supporting THE GROUNDHOGS 1972? DUNDEE
PROCOL HARUM/ JETHRO TULL DUNDEE 197?
This is so difficult: how...
Hi, some of you may know me as a long-time writer for ACID DRAGON and others. I have been away from Prog Ears for a while, but am back after publishing a book on Music. I am also currently working on...
Don't know how many PE devotees know that Martin Strong, he of the Rock Discography books, has an online GREAT ROCK BIBLE. I've been doing some of the biographies in the prog rock genre covering...
I'll let her know she is missed!
ESOTERIC continues to produce excellently packaged, thoughtful remasters of classic proggy albums from the 1960s and 1970s. Mark and Vicky Powell deserve a lot of credit for all the hard graft they...
My favouriteFK album!
As one who couldn't get tickets and is life long fan I am dismayed at the cost of the vinyls. Don't imagine they'll make 100% sense without a video anyway. Record Store is doing them cheaper but...
The first for a rocker, Power and Glory and In A Glass House are my faves, great band saw them live once doing musical chairs.
Ta for the thumbs up on the Uncle Meat fuzzy dice and bongos again!
Also coming to Scotland.
Great band, looking forward to some new music.
Must admit I have never been a big Bowie fan but Black Star is seriously good- respect- shine on Davy.
Esoteric take time and care Mark and Vicky know what they are doing it is a labour of love.
There are actually two terrific albums here! The second CD is much more than a bits and pieces affair- nice detailed sleeve notes as well. Highly recommended. Review written (in next Acid Dragon)-...
Very impressive double CD on Esoteric goes back to the future.
Which Art Zoyd albums do PE people recommend?
I cannot agree more although am unsure about the AWSOP drummer quote. I have always considered this along with 'A Salty Dog' a classic. Indeed I would put the first four albums in this category as...
Please consider joining my discussion group. It is a support group for musicians who are not always parts of groups. Or for fans of artists like Bill Nelson to name but one. I have just posted two...
It's actually been out for a while, my largest collaboration yet. This Fragile Peace is on Stone Premonitions and can be heard along with a retrospective on Bandcamp and www.paradoxone.co.uk. Also...
Our timelines seem to cross. I started playing and producing my own music in 2000. Fortunately Ohio guitarist Rick Ray released 4 CDs of mine on his Neurosis label. He would try to sell them at gigs....
I have loads of interesting CDs to exchange for vinyl on a ratio of 2 or 3 or more per LP. Have a wants list- my tastes are broad- anything adventurous and experimental, jazz from 60s and beyond;...
Yes, I do thanks!
Sorry have been otherwise engaged but now back in prog land. Anything adventurous and experimental, kraut/ space/ jazz ECM any modern jazz meaning 60s on; blues; prog of course. I do have a wants...
