I really liked Island Noises. I'll check this out.
A fan from the late 70s / early 80s. Saddle Tramp (as shown earlier) is my favorite. He also did the vocals on Toy Caldwells solo album.
I bought Rise Twain unaware of the connection to Echolyn. It immediately appealed to me and now i know why. Looking forward to new Echolyn. One of my favorite bands.
Can't listen to Brothers but still give debut and Love over Gold plenty of spins. Making Movies is okay.
I have gotten into some of his solo work. Privateering is pretty darn good.
Only listened to a video of one song so take it for what is worth but it feels much more guitar oriented. Clive's keyboards aren't as prominent as prior albums.
I waited and waited and finally gave in. Good not great. About what I expected. It will get spins but isn't something that rises to the top of their catalog. Glad I bought it.
I also have very interest in this but am glad it is happening. For each of us that sit this out, there probably are dozens/hundreds who will stand in line to buy the first tickets.
And one of the most under appreciated bassists in Charlie Hayward (a young 71).
I understand I am in the minority here, but buying the physical CD only to record it digitally and then throwing it away has kept me from buying Whirlwind. I am not sure why they never offered a...
I'll throw out Daniel Johnston.
Also I think Dan Fogelberg did all of his albums. I assume he also sold some of that artwork.
Dark Side
Wish You Were Here
Animals
That's pretty awesome and tough to beat as well.
Kansas - Kansas
Kansas - Song For America
Kansas - Masque
Kansas - Leftoverture
Kansas - Point of Know Return
Start at any spot and count to 3.
I think you are missing my point. If any Genesis reunion was a greatest hits fest, then I'm not really interested. I think a "final" tour would appeal to diehards than fans of the hits. And so...
All of those parts had guitar lines on them. Rutherford stays on bass and lets Hackett interpret as he sees fit. It would really be the most interesting part of the tour for me. It would bring...
Exactly. 24 years ago. Listen to their latest (2017) The Mission and tell me that it does anything for you. The shows will rehash the same jukebox music that everyone has heard for 40 years. ...
It makes me sad because it points to all the problems with the modern music scene. People would rather go to an Eddie Money concert when he clearly couldn't sing (and yes, even had his own tv show)...
Very little I don't have already. Sure the quality is great, but can't see buying 5 CDs for a handful of unreleased material.
I wish I found this exciting, but something inside me finds this sad.
Okay, to derail this thread and turn it into a "I want to know" thread.....
I know the band that was called NEXT and released a song called EUREKA had some members on this site. I'm curious what...
I used to listen to music back and forth on my 50 minute commute and anytime I was in the car. IPod with all my music digitized. But I must admit, I have been hooked by the Audio Book thing. I now...
Not a progressive artist, but there were a couple as we recorded them that I fell in love with, but then you move on. Like many artist, once you get them down, mixed and released, you tend to lose...
Because it's the season. Watched Holiday Affair the other night. One of my favorite all time XMAS movies. Great cast, good story, just cheesy enough for the holidays.
The playing is great. Could not handle the singing. I never play it.
It's been out almost a week now. Any reviews?
Thus how we have gotten to a world where original bands struggle to bring in 50 people but tribute bands sell out.
I would not group Stand Up & Benefit in the Prog era. I would think Minstrel fits this more (and maybe even war child). I always saw Stand Up & Benefit as the bluesy era and having more in common...
To this day, "Not My Cross To Bear" is still one of my favorite songs of all time.
Isn't Peter Nicholls still the singer?
His Vietnam is fantastic. He does a great job on everything.
Really digging this new release:

It has grown on me with multiple listens. This is their debut, will be an interesting band to watch.
About 2 weeks ago, Daniel Johnston passed away. I finally got around to listening to some old favorites. For those that have never seen the documentary "The Devil and Daniel Johnston" I highly...
If you skipped last night, you missed out on the parts on Townes Van Zandt. I'll watch anything that plays Poncho and Lefty (although Tecumseh Valley is my favorite by him).
<QUOTE>Some pedal steel players I like:
Jerry Garcia (Grateful Dead)
Buddy Cage (New Riders Of The Purple Sage)
Al Perkins (Manassas)
Robert Randolph (Robert Randolph and the Family Band)
Jeff...
That's an impressive 5 CD collection
I don't know. One of my favorite country songs ever was written in 1980:

I heard the series ends in the 90s which is when country music died anyways. Modern Country is bad Pop music now. So few artists left. What is so interesting is the early tie-in to radio and...
Saw "The Commonheart" Saturday in St. Louis. I think they are heading through Texas next. If you have seen Shinyribs (Houston band), you will like these guys.
Sad. I grew up as he was becoming popular. I owned most of his early albums and have a few on CD.
You listed the Kinks, so I'd recommend the CD "Give the people what they want".
From the 70s, Dave Mason's "Let It Flow" fits the bill.
But for pure, simple POP, I have a guilty pleasure of...
House of Cards, Network, Trust are all great CDs. From the early days, I think Heads or Tales is even better than Worlds Apart.
Interesting. It always seemed to me that two camps formed around Passion Play or Minstrel. Personally, for me it is Minstrel, Stand Up, Aqualung, Thick, Heavy Horses, and Songs From the Woods...
In my top 3 or 4 for sure. It still gets play after all these years.
World Through My Eyes is my favorite. This one, to me, has solid songs throughout. And you get Ray Wilson on Roses. What's not to like.
Ron is our drummer. I'm the bass player. I don't know if Ron was ever on Progressiveears but I'll ask him.
The #1 problem we have if we even give CDs away is people who say "I don't even have a way to play this". Most people do not have CD players (because they don't have stereo systems). The only way...
From your list, the first 2 that come to mind are
The Barock Project and early RPWL (World Through My Eyes)
My band Lida Una will be playing an outdoor concert at the New Town Amphitheater just north of St. Louis. The Brothers Reed from Southern Oregon will be opening at 7:30 and we go on at 9:00.
All...
There is a "Huns and Horns" joke in here somewhere.
Dark is not a fun show. It is great, but it is not fun. It took until season 3 and then only in a flashback for one character to laugh. Read the subtitles, it isn't hard on this show. You don't...
Thanks for sharing. Man, what a loss
That seems unlikely. Are there not CDs by artists that get more listening-time than others. Are there not specific albums that you go back to more frequently than others. Saying something is #17...
I will try to take this another way.
I find that for many of the bands I'm into, there is one album that does it for me. Whether it is Dark Matter by IQ or The Visitor by Arena, or whatever. ...
I saw a really cool article that brought up this strange point. Stranger Things love 80's media references. Season 3 was staged in '85. In 1986 Winona Ryder made her first film "Lucas". Do the...
Late to the Lost Crowns discovery, but after the first several listens, it is awesome. It sound vaguely familiar yet not like anything being released right now. Truly stands on its own.
When I watch old NG episodes I am surprised how horrible the acting is. I guess I was so glad of the stories that I let it slip. Back in the late 80s we were used to the campy original series...
That's the name of his dog in the series. I kid you not.
In 1990, while in San Antonio, TX I went to see Tracy Chapman. The opening act was this Johnny Clegg guy. From the first note he hit (he was promoting the Cruel, Crazy, Beautiful World CD) people...
Dark Matter is still my favorite from them by far. Everything else is a whole grade lower. Seventh House, Wake, Frequency are good. Subterranea hasn't aged well. Tales From The Lush Attic is...
I may be the only one on the planet that just doesn't dig Ted Leonard. He sings all the notes, but it just doesn't emotionally pull me in.
That's my opinion as well. When I saw him, I really wanted to like it, but nothing hooked me. It was a little emotionless and everything was forgettable.
Have not heard him with Betts though.
