Excellent, as always!
Thanks, this sounds great!
Somehow this album doesn't do much for me. I've only listened to it 4 or 5 times since it came out. The guitar solo in Crow and Nightingale sticks out for sure! But all in all, they've been there,...
Again....a very well done and entertaining documentary! Thanks!!
I have "Fearless" on vinyl, so no need to order it on CD. Thanks anyway for the heads up!
I just ordered the Belle Antique re-releases of the first 2 Circus LPs thanks to this thread! I had no idea...
Whoever wants an Olias-like experience should listen to the album "Tales from Sheepfather's grove" by Johannes Luley (the guitarist of Perfect Beings and Moth Vellum).
I will surely buy this album, but from what I've heard in the preview clip, I cannot help thinking that Marillion kind of is releasing the same kind of album over and over again.
"Yeah, it sounds...
I can only chime in here and say thanks. That was a very enjoyable video (as were the two previous on Lamb and AToTT).
At least part of the Europe-leg are the concerts that were supposed to take place in the spring 2020 and are now hopefully happening with a delay of two years. I have my tickets already for more than...
Interesting...
Wasn't the fallout/a reason for the PT-split mainly a thing between SW and CE?
This could well point towards future musical endeavours...let's keep our fingers crossed!
I have listened to Virus once and have no desire to revisit it. It's way too heavy for me, and the songs begin to sound "all the same" to me.
I really liked "The Mountain" and to a lesser degree...
I just preordered the new Gungfly album in red vinyl! Just 9 more weeks (or so) to go!
After the recent praise for "Note" I decided to gave a specific listen to this song. It is good! I've been avoiding "The void" for I don't know what reasons. Good that I still will have to explore...
Ha!
I just found out thanks to this discussion that there are demo-versions on the BR-disc. Had a listen to them recently. They're interesting, though not very different to the finished mixes....
If I wouldn't already have the DVD-A plus a vinyl copy of IA, I would certainly buy this!
But not for only two unheard songs.
Bump. I like all of their 3 albums. Sad, but I can imagine how difficult is is these days if you don't have a certain reach.
Geddy Lee?
Zero interest in this from my side. Also Less is More is one of the few (regular) CDs that is missing in my collection.
New studio material? Then I'm in, anytime!
Can we have some opinions on "Audio Diary 2014-2018"?
Has anybody heard it?
KC is releasing so much stuff - one has to be selective here...
I recently bought "the reconstruction of light" to...
^ It ain't so.
They are just treading the same ground for the last few LPs. It basically doesn't matter which of their records you pull out when you have the BBT-itch...
That having said, it's solid work and all,...
^^ that is exactly also my "problem" with Haken. Although technically very impressive, I just get hammered down by their sound. The Mountain was very good, Affinity had its moments... Vector, not so...
This guy is very talented and the music just seems to flow out of him! I quite like "Friendship". The piano at the end of the title track seems like a "hats off" to Gentle Giant (Schooldays from...
The 40th anniversary edition was perfectly fine for me. I do not need more. It's a product for a sub-niche of a niche...
Let's keep our fingers crossed, then.
There is material in bad quality "out there" which I would gladly pay for to have in better quality. Maybe there are other things we don't even know about?
Will we ever get something "new" from the estate?
I already own the orignial 2CD version of Field day but cannot really justify to buy it again. A (solo) guitar album in surround? How does it come along - is there really a need for this? Please...
I like it. I really wish I'd already known it in the 90s when it was released!
^^^ This!
I'll also chime in and say that I love this album. It's somewhere in the Top-10 of SW's work, IMO.
Needs to be listened to in surround, of course, as do all things SW.
Nobody mentioned Grendel yet?
:lol
In my top 10 there would be some fish stuff from MC and CAS, but also H-era stuff like King of sunset town, Splintering heart, Neverland etc.
On a side...
I discovered much interesting music thanks to PE. THANKS and happy holidays!
Also no Stolt...
I suspect this is a poor collection of half-baked leftovers from over the years, but i hope to be proven otherwise!!
Guitar noir was really a return to form after GTR! Count me in in the "like" camp...
^^ Yes, but Rabin still has it (the certain fire) in him - just listen to his 2012 album Jacaranda, which was outstanding!
Unfortunately (for me) they are taking a heavier direction with the new album. I'm being tired of this heavy prog stuff, already their last was "too much" for me. These guys are playing terrific and...
Who is singing at the beginning of the song? First I thought the yt-upload was a fake because I could not make up who is singing at the beginning (is it Anderson in low voice?). But later it got...
Also the record can now be preordered. At Burning Shed, they have an exclusive green vinyl edition, ltd to 300, and (at least) 1 is already gone ;-)
Sorry, it's called "Discovering Beardfish". A 5CD collection (which seems already at silly prices):
...
It is a great box, indeed. Along with the 5CD-"Introducing Beardfish" - I'm listening to a lot of this stuff now and still have not digested everything. I also have "on her journey to the sun" and...
I like most of BC except the noisy stuff. For example, Molotov and Haze with 2 wonderful athmospherical tracks but also 2 weird noisy tracks (which I tend to skip).
I have to be in the right mood...
The new covers for the LPs are kinda cool!
But I cannot justify buying this set - I own many of these as original LPs and then also the recently released 5.1 versions. So this set would sit on the...
Keep talking - Pink Floyd
I like Insurgentes very much.
From the Porcupine Tree kind of Outtake "Harmony Korine" to the whacky rhythm of "no twilight"...on to the beautiful "Salvaging" and "Veneno" (whith recollections of...
Looking forwards to it! Wilderness was a damn fine album, maybe their best.
1989: IQ opening for Mike and the Mechanics.
^ Your review of Richter's Sleep makes me want to check it out!
Edit: Other descriptions were equally appetite wetting, so that I just ordered the 8 CD set!
A brilliant album!
I also have preordered the vinyl LP of this but interestingly so far have not received an email about the delay. Maybe they send it personally and 1 by 1...?
I mistrust any cloud service.
For me, Brave was probably the last one to get.
While I enjoy the 5.1-mix, it is in no way a revelation. MC was also a bit underwhelming (not surprisingly).
I know all of this Marillion stuff so...
I generally like Archive since their debut album.
Controlling Crowds is ok with me, but not among their best efforts. These IMO are You all look the same to me, Lights, The Michel Vaillant albums....
This is one to get! Great. Looking forwards to it!
I have most of his stuff but did not buy his latest studio CD. Also not all the live CDs he released in the past few years. His material / albums have really got very same-y, as most of us here...
Bump. Why are only so few people listening to this band, according to the answers in this very thread?
I bought the LP - so far only had time to listen to it twice, but I'll give it many more...
I love NC since 1982, when I had the impression it was a veery old record from a distant past... :)
What I wasn't aware for a long time is what a huge influence Anthony Phillips had on the early...
^ Porcupine Tree is dead...long live Steven Wilson!
I saw him and the band yesterday in Zurich, what a great concert! All in all a bit too "heavy", for my taste, anyway. The new guitar player is...
A great setlist! I'll see him and the band next week, looking forwards to it!
If there's not going to be 5.1 I have no reason to buy! Good for my shelf-space that has already much too much Marillion-items in it!
Looking forwards to CaS and Brave in 5.1.
