"Do not use the forum to promote the artists you represent"
For the record, I do not work for any of the companies I've posted links for. They were purely as a heads up since I thought people...
This has created some massive discussion on another forum within the past week. It was never meant to create the usual Fish vs Hogarth debates, merely just reflections on a few favourite songs.

So...did anyone pick one of these up? Anybody discover any new (old) favourites?
My copy is sitting on my desk in front of me and I'm planning on dipping in and out of it again this week.
Same company --- different sale. In a few days, the Esoteric Recordings store will have a sale and that'll be different again. I'm expecting it to cost me a kidney.
As for starting "the same...

As part of Esoteric's excellent Procol Harum reissue campaign, 1975's 'Ninth' is released as a 3CD set this Friday, 30/11/18.
It's an album that polarises fan opinion. Some people really like it,...
Following the previous Greenslade reissues, there's a CD/DVD set of 'Bedside Manners' coming this Friday. It'll be good to have the Old Grey Whistle Test footage on a proper DVD.
In the meantime,...
Cherry Red Records are offering a big discount on various titles for Black Friday today.
The sale - with up to 50% off includes deluxe reissues by Anthony Phillips, Tony Banks and other prog...

Next week, Grapefruit Records are releasing a three CD box set of archive recordings from the British baroque pop movement.
Covering stuff recorded between 1967-73, a lot of it is on the fringes...
I enjoyed some of this disc A LOT. The Hackett contribution is stunning. A couple of bits miss the mark, but on the whole it's well worth investigating.
Various thoughts here:...
Yup --- Sherwood's on everything.
Here are various thoughts, if anyone's interested.

A new limited CD release will celebrate prog band Twelfth Night's signature piece 'Sequences' and feature a brand new studio recording.
More details here:...
You'll never beat Jack's version, though. Terrific stuff.
You won't be sorry! It's great.
There's a reissue of Greenslade's finest album, 'Spyglass Guest' coming at the end of the month.
Real Gone takes a massively in-depth look at it here: ...
The album is out today and also streaming in full at the link in the first post, if anyone's interested. It's a great listen.
Jet Black Sea are releasing their third album on Thursday and it's their most ambitious, proggiest work to date. With a 35 minute title track, it doesn't mess about.
Some of you will definitely...
I have very fond memories of the day I bought Season's End in early 1990. I played the cassette over and over that afternoon.
There are four from 'The Thieving Magpie'.
I'll probably end up getting this purely for the blu ray disc and the stuff on disc two. If they've cleaned up that live show and made it half way listenable, that'll be a bonus.
Ah, of course. That'll just be the four Clutching era tracks from 'The Thieving Magpie' then.
It might mean a bit less tinkering, which could be a good thing.
Does anyone know if the live gig that's been included has been issued elsewhere previously? I certainly don't have it, so that...
Exactly. I hated the new mix of Brave. Hogarth sounded like he was mumbling in an empty hallway. It actually made me angry.
Yeah, I was surprised to see there was no SW remix. I assume he was too busy, as he's just done the Jethro Tull 'This Was'. I want that too!
Yup. That'll be the one. The one from the Incommunicado(?) b side was different to the one that ended up on the CD version of the album.
Fantastic news... Probably the most anticipated of the Marillion reissues will be out in November!
Clutching At Straws with blu ray and 5.1 surround mix!
...
You're welcome. It's a superb set. You won't be disappointed.
Grapefruit Records are releasing a 3CD set of psych and popsike related recordings from 1969 in a couple of weeks. It follows on from similar sets covering 1967/1968.
I got an early listen and...
It'll be getting a few more spins from me over the next few weeks, even though my review work is done.
Here's a full review of the album (*contains spoilers*).
It's (mostly) a fantastic recording. http://www.realgonerocks.com/2018/07/3-2-the-rules-have-changed/
Bloody amazing it was too. I'd never seen Hawkwind before - glad I can now say that I have. So good to finally catch TFATD's live show too; I'd always heard good things.
For those even slightly...
I've heard the 3.2 album in its entirety now and it's much better than I was expecting.
Will post a full review later.
Is there any further word as to whether the orange vinyl will be a UK issue or whether it's US/Canada only? Nobody seems to know for definite.
The other YES featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin and Rick Wakeman will release a double CD, blu ray and triple vinyl in September:
...
Not sure whether there are any AISLES fans in here -- hope so, from the bits I've heard, they're GREAT.
This popped into my inbox this evening. Sounds interesting. Good to see more studio...
Finally coming out on 15th June!
Evenin'!
I posted this in the 'Stoner!' thread, but it belongs in here too. I think you guys will dig it -- massive, massive riffs...and one of the best things to come of out in 2018 so far. ...
Oh Christ -- this is immense. Get your ears around this:

Since my original post, I've gone back to this a few times. Hard going...but so, so good.
This *might* be shipping this week... I've not heard otherwise!
REALLY looking forward to the next album!
Any fans of the Anglo/Dutch atmospheric prog band Jet Black Sea in?
Their first album 'The Path of Least Existence' was an overlooked prog classic. Their second album 'Absorption Lines'...
Over the last few weeks, I've been getting my mind bent out of shape by the new Mask of Bees EP. It's probably the most insane prog I've heard in a while... Truly pushing the envelope.
Take a...
Have any of the extra tracks from this appeared online yet...? I know it's out soon, but I'm getting fidgety.
I've been steaming through the Hillage releases over the past week. I did the whole of the Gong 'Radio Gnome Trilogy' + associated recordings in one sitting... Am now listening to 'Green'. Much...
I originally posted this in the Melvins thread, but thought it might get lost.
For lovers of the heaviest end of the prog and art rock scale, the new album from Boss Keloid is not to be missed. ...
I only know two from the original list, so lots for me to check out. My favourite of recent years was Wot Gorilla?, but they seem to be on hiatus again now.
Here's another for you: the...
While I'm here, some of you Melvins folk might enjoy the new album by Boss Keloid (out Friday). More often than not, the vocals take on a Buzz style and meter. It's a bloody great record.
...
I've been away for a couple of days, but I'll be resuming my Steve Hillage odyssey either today or tomorrow with a spin of 'Bananamour' by Kevin Ayers. It'll be a first listen for me.
To dismiss Lysol as thirty two minutes of sludge is perhaps doing it a disservice. 'Sacrifice' is one of the great tunes from that period -- and was in the live set from last year. It also features...
I saw the Melvins live for the first time last year. Was utterly thrilled that they were supported by Redd Kross. Made for a superb night out!
I certainly didn't! Thanks for the heads up...
...And I'll be spinning the Khan album shortly (my first listen, I think) if anyone fancies joining me.
Good to see 'Open' get some love. It's usually 'Fish Rising', 'L' or 'Green'.
I've still not heard that Anderson-Stolt album. Is it worth my time?
Excellent. If you've not heard anything after L, you're in for a hell of a ride. The later solo albums are more commercial, but I love them. As for System 7, my tolerance for dance and electronica...
