Amen. There is nothing left to say in my opinion.
You might want to check out Anima Morte. I particularly like the song Premature Burial on Face the Sea of Darkness. I think it would fit well in your mix generally....the whole album is fantastic,...
Still don't know who the gaucho is, but the show was good. :up
Thank you, apparently I didn't poke around enough! Got my Gaucho tickets- :up
I know, me too. That big house fire in Annapolis that killed the millionaire and his wife and grandkids back in January, I have a close connection with the family, although I did not know them...
Does anyone know the amex code for the NYC show presale?
Good point! However, you have a line of communication that I certainly don't. It never hurts to ask.
BTW, I could kick myself for all the shows at Orion I've missed. I'm trying to make up for that.
I'm not sure where I was when this was going on. Not where I should have been, obviously. They can come back! Steve?
And while the Syd era Floyd is very evident, and great to listen to, I find the Emissary track has a lot of early Crimson flavors, especially in the percussion and the horns. A great song.
I will keep that in mind, of course - and knowing where to start is a good thing. John has yet to steer me wrong though, so I'm really looking forward to digging down.
It IS really good. I can barely stop listening to it, and I like it even more every time I listen. I'll have to get those Cuneiform releases...check those out as well.
Thanks Jon! So why start with that one and not the latest release? Will I be disappointed in the other releases if I like RFiG so much?
I have and love Rain Falls in Grey, and now I need more- I see on Progarchives that they are very prolific, and so I also need some recommendations.
Anyone have an opinion? ;)
Me too, I've been checking the Club's site and SWHQ for weeks now. They do not indicate that it was on sale. Confused as well Mark! What's up with this?
Ok, at least I know I'm not missing something if you have no news either. Thanks Battema! I hope there is something soon. The Keswick is close to selling any tickets worth thinking about.
and now for something completely different...does anyone know the story about the SW show at the 9:30 club in DC? It is not on their website, and I'm checking it everyday. Anyone know when those...
Shadow Circus, "On A Dark and Stormy Night" is based on the book A Wrinkle in Time, by Madeline L'Engle.
I really like the Decemberists. I do mot have The Hazards of Love- I'll have to pick that up- but they are releasing a new one early next year called What a Terrible World, What a beautiful World. ...
I'm kind of suprised they did Renegade as the final Encore. That was not, in my recollection, a big hit for them - not like some of the others on the set list.
Or, it could be that they've been pretty consistent with their 2 hour set list, and they came out for the encore at 1:50 minutes in. Friday night, the encore began at around 1:40 minutes in or so and...
No, they don't. However I just spent the weekend at Progday and nary the smell of patchouli, whereas I go to the Gathering of the Vibes and it's everywhere. I just don't see a lot of crossover...
Wouldn't that be the top 10 reasons to listen to the Grateful Dead? You might be in the wrong forum.
Of course that is the overarching reason. But there are associated benefits, that is the genesis of a list.
I see I get the best of both worlds- Orion tonight AND Progday travel Friday. Sometimes the stars align.
Thanks Jon! Will you be at Orion tomorrow night too?
I don't believe we have, actually. But I will make a point of it Saturday. I will look for the guy who seems like he's having way more fun than the rest of us. :lol
Three full days!
My kids got a kick out of these two. Only one listens to prog.
Took me a minute, but yes, they could've been. None of that in my car!
See, so much more creativity than I!
I especially relate to number 8! When I first started brining my daughter to prog shows, that was one of the amazing benefits I was quick to point out. The...
I actually don't have ten, I'm not that creative. But I do have one based on real experience:
Thieves who rifle through cars don't steal your CD's.
Not sure if this is number 10 or number 1,...
Yes, but it eventually does.|)
Very excited to be going to my second Progday. Counting down every day like its the last dy of school. 15 to go!
Mattias,
Are you bringing Anekdoten with you to Progday? Now that would be sweet.
Man, you guys don't mess around! Looking forward to all of it- see you at Orion and at Progday!
4 albums? I think I've missed something. I only have two....
While dating (many years ago), similar musical taste was high on my list. Being married 24 years, while there are a few things each of us like better than the other, our taste is remarkably similar....
Amen to that.
What five albums define my musical taste, and not me as a person (although that is sometimes hard to differentiate- hoenstly they might even be the same), I would have to go with the following:
1....
Thanks!
All booked as well, and tickets bought. Shadow, glad to hear you are going to make it - however, I am staying well away from wherever your room is. There is more than enough man flesh at the farm.
Quebec City. Thanks!
We will be traveling to Quebec the last week of July and would love some suggestions for clubs or places to see live music - suggestions for progressive music actually scheduled for that week would...
Fantastic news! You are right Mattias, this IS going to be fun. Two of my favorite new albums in the last couple of years!
A- LTIA
B- Thrak
C- Islands
D- TCoL
I just saw on Facebook that Distant Satellites is #16 on the UK charts- according to the BBC. That's pretty cool. I haven't heard the disc yet- hopefully today.
If not already mentioned- Laurie Anderson / Peter Gabriel and Excellent Birds.
Ayone take a look at the resale sites yet? It's crazy! The Saturday night in Philly show row B is retailing on StubHub for $1045. For one ticket! I bought four row C tickets for that show during the...
I also want to encourage anyone that can, go and see this band! I saw them last fall at Orion and they are really amazing. I wish I could see this show too. It's one of those that is significant...
Just got four tickets for Philly Friday row Q and four for Saturday, row C. Broke my piggy bank, but it'll be worth it.
BTW, I love Adrian's drill.
I find it interesting that the radio spot over on the other KC dedicated thread plays nothing of the Belew era KC. I wonder who made the decision to incude only that era (I mean, yeah, Belew is not...
One show or two in Philly? decisions, decisions.
You know Mark, i've been telling him he has to do Progday, but he has come east to see so many other prog festivals and shows with me, I think his wife is secretly (or maybe not so secretly)...
That's awesome! I could get that for both of my brothers! But pricey. I'd have to go for the signed edition. Something to think about.
I am in need of a birthday gift for my brother. He is a huge prog fan who has pretty much all of the music he needs or at least has the means to buy any he so desires.
What I'd like to find is a...
Bought my first album on my own- Leftoverture, when I was nine. But I think my son may have this one in the bag. While pregnant with him I saw King Crimson twice. He loves them- and several other...
[QUOTE=Mister Triscuits;254426]Actually the collaboration with Cluster came two years later, around the time he was recording Before and After Science, which itself includes a track with Cluster.
...
He was working with Cluster around the time he recorded this album, so that makes sense. I've actually heard some measures in some Cluster songs that are almost identical. I can't put my finger on...
Ok, no need to answer my message then, I think this probably covers it.
When is Gosta going to come back to the States? I miss them.
