I agree with you on the 2nd BS&T being the better album. I love their Satie arrangements and "Sometimes in Winter" is my favorite song by them.

Live/Archival Box Sets/Remasters/Remixes and comps do not qualify.
I teach 6th-12th grade choir. My students are always accusing me of being stuck in the 60's and 70's. As a result, I took some time this evening and perused the collection for an accurate percentage....
My Top Three:
1.EMMA-JEAN THACKRAY-YELLOW(This is the best new album I have heard in quite some time).
2.JACK O' THE CLOCK-LEAVING CALIFORNIA
3.FLOATING POINTS/PHAROAH SANDERS-PROMISES
Get an ABC label, cut by Brian Gardner at Allen Zentz Mastering. You will not be sorry!

Awesome post!! These guys are on a whole other level.
Link doesn't work
I think it's the best thing they have ever done. Just listen to the sophistication of the arrangements! I hear a lot of Ives and Van Dyke Parks, especially in the orchestrations/voicings and the...
That is one of my favorite album covers of all time! The music is also fantastic.
Yep!
I think it's the best album they ever produced, with Darwin a close 2nd! Just make sure it's the Italian version.
I am looking for issue #36 and #46 if anyone is willing to sell either or both copies. Thanks, Aaron
1. King's X
2. Galactic Cowboys
I wonder if he is going to remix the music from his wedding ceremony?
I Went out to the mailbox this morning and it is now in my grubby little hands. I went the Barnes and Noble route and it paid off big time! Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some fondling and...
One of the crown jewels of my 400 or so Lp's. For a lover of prog/modern classical/jazz influenced music, it is a must!
Stormwatch is the album that has not held up for me. A great deal of that has to do with Ian Anderson's bass playing. Glascock is greatly missed and to my knowledge, only played on 3 tracks, "Orion",...

Thanks for sharing!
Soft Machine Seven today...Possibly my favorite since II. "Carol Ann" is just gorgeous.
Bananamour is my favorite of his. You've got Hillage on "Bucket Blues", Ratledge on "Interview", Wyatt on "Hymn" and Bedford's orchestral arrangement on the terrific, "Beware of the Dog".
For Guided by Voices, their EP "Fast Japanese Spin Cycle" is my favorite. There is a track on there called "Dusted" that is one of the greatest 2 minute pop songs of all time!
The West Germany discs from 1986 are fantastic and can be had for $10-12 bucks on Discogs. Obviously the MoFi's are great too if you don't mind spending $40-50 dollars. Happy hunting!
Sossity:You're a Woman is such a great tune! Ian has such an ear for wonderful melodies, but can also compose in such a way where the tonal center can be quite ambiguous. He could say more in 4...
That Kamaal Williams album is killer! It would definitely land in my top 3.
Darren Lock is a knuckle dragging troglodyte!
Did you guys get the Japanese mini CD reissues? If so, how do they sound? The OG's are way out of my price range and that's assuming you can find them.
When it makes my nipples hard.
Attahk is fanfuckingtastic! I also like a fair share of Merci. Does that make me a bad person?

I knew this might have struck a nerve. Francesco is a talented vocalist, but the style in which he sings grates on my fucking nerves. Give me some lieder/art song by Schubert or something from Ives'...
I'm a classically trained singer and I can't stand the Opera. My voice professor was not amused to say the least.
:lol
PFM sounds like an Italian ELP knockoff at times. I don't know if being on the Manticore label had anything to do with that? Banco's lead singer employs the operatic style which I find to be...

The groove on L'Ultimo is fucking killer and don't get me started on the harpsichord!
These 5 Italian bands stand head and shoulders above the rest of the pack imho. I'm not a big proponent of the RPI movement and I find a great deal of it to be derivative of the English bands that...

My favorite Morricone tunes at the moment.
If you had to choose between these 2 Belgian masterpieces, which one would it be?
