Rock/pop songs about WWI. Not from WWI.
Elton John - All Quiet on the Western Front

Jona Lewie - Stop the Cavalry

Iron Maiden - Paschendale

Iron Maiden - The Legacy ( "...strange yellow gas...")
PJ Harvey - Words that Maketh Murder.
Beautiful and Brutal. The whole album, "let England Shake"
inspired by WWI

Excellent, I shall check that out. I could only think of the 4 I posted but I was sure there must be many more.
Just thought of another one - Chris de Burgh - "This Song For You", a letter from a soldier at Paschendale back to his girlfriend in England. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sz0pGOESrBs

Not really on topic, but I visited the Canadian Museum of War this past weekend and of course, it is skewed to Canadian participation in war, dating back to the 1500s. But I must say, the section that most affected me was the First World War. Not quite to tears, but pretty damn close.

Same here, whenever I think about or read about war or visit museums

Two Eric Bogle songs (covered by loads of people):
"And the band played Waltzing Matilda"
"No Man's Land" (also known as "The Green Fields of France")
Terribly sad songs.

I suppose everyone's different - but I find that having seen action, I have NO interest in war museums.
I don't know why, or how I'd react if I went to one, and I don't really care. All I can say is that wild horses couldn't drag me to any war museum.
Back on topic - Iron Maiden's "Paschendale" was the only one that really sprung to mind...
Quite a few about WW-II, though.

John Cale's Paris 1919. Kind of an allegory of the fragile peace using a runaway bride as the central metaphor.

Twelfth Night, 'Sequences'. ("Over the top...we go")
Yes, 'Harold Land' ("Harold Land with a wave of his hand said goodbye to all that.")

I probably haven't heard this in more than 40 years, and it's just as stupid as I thought.
